Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week i freebie week but I'll go with Jana and think about Top Ten Bookish Habits.
1) The books on my shelve are colour cooridinated, rather than ordered by author, alphabet or series :)
2) The only format of book I hate to read is in pdf. Give me an e-reader, audiobook or the good old fashioned paper version, just don't expect me to scroll downwards.3) I listen to an audiobook on my way to and from work, and read a kindle or hardcover/paperback during lunch.
4) From 3 you've probably guessed, I have at least two books on the go at any time.
5) I always have to see the screen adaptation of a good book I've read - think Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games :-)

7) When I was twelve I had close to three hundred books, one day when I got back from school I had none. My mother donated the lot to a school library. I was distraught! I still collect books :).

8)I dust my books regularly - love books and hate dust.
9)I've only just learned to not finish books - those I'm really not enjoying - and it feels liberating!
10) I love talking about books!

Ooh, moms always do stuff like that. I had a rabbit and my mom was tired of cleaning the cage of it. So one day I came home from school and I was like, where is Shady (Yep, I was a huge fan of Eminem...don't ask me why. lol.)? She gave him away to a girl who lived two blocks away. So sad. :)
ReplyDeleteCute list. I tend to read in my lunch hour too (well I did when I had a job) and I sometimes put my kindle on text to voice mode while i put away my clothes.
ReplyDeleteYou can change the PDF files to any form of file you need for your ereader with http://calibre-ebook.com/ I wouldn't waste my time on a PDF either, but this will put it in Nook or Kindle format for you. LIFESAVER! I love this.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary! A few authors and a couple of galleys on netgalley have been pdfs and they can be a struggle, I'll see if that works.
DeleteOh I love those pictures!! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like audiobooks but yes I do have to see movie adaptation of the book!! :)
Great list!
BTW Wow I don't think my mother would ever try to take any book without my knowledge. I like borrowing my books to people I know will take care of them but to give them to bunch of teenagers who don't appreciate them no I don't think so! :)
Brilliant list. Loved the graphics!
ReplyDeleteNice list! I'm not crazy about PDF files either. I've read short documents on a PDF reader, but I don't think I've finished a single book with that format.

Top Ten Books on Happiness. Please stop by!
I can sympathise with no.7: my mum worked with a woman who had a daughter a few years younger than me, and we ended up giving a huge portion of my books to her - stuff I had technically grown out of (series like the Sweet Valley books), but that I still sneakily liked to read every now and then! I hope the girl enjoyed them as much as I did, but I wish I'd kept a couple back, just for nostalgic purposes!
ReplyDeleteIm glad you realized you dont have to finish a book if you hate it! And I also hate pdfs !!

My mother did the same thing to me - and she could not understand why I was so upset! She had the neighbour help her, and I still remember the neighbour telling me that I should let it go and grow up. It was very sad. :-(
ReplyDeleteLove this! I still haven't learned to stop reading books I don't like. Once I pick a book up, I'm committed. I love your list.

P.S. If you stop by be sure to check out my giveaway for any book under $15.
I hate PDFs! I've started converting all the articles I have to read for school to ePUB and putting them on my Kobo! It makes life so much easier.
ReplyDeleteAwesome list!! and so interesting and also some points that are easy to relate to. AWWWWW!!! at your donated bunch :( I'd be bawling my eyes out if that happened to me. and I hate scrolling down too D:< especially because sometimes, it skips, then you're stuck going back and forth looking for your spot

Seriously! If my mother did something like that, I'd never talk to hear again :') My books are so precious to me. She does throw a lot of things away, but she never touched my books.
ReplyDelete& I also love to talk about books ^^ if I could, I'd talk all day about them. Not that anybody listens over here, haha, so I'll keep it for my blog.

I can relate to all of these! Especially the reading books at lunch break thing...my friends think it's rude but then again, their faces are glued to their phones during lunch :)
ReplyDelete#6 ! I want to copypaste that part, because boooooy. GPOY. What a great list! I'd probably have become violent if my mom did such a thing, though. This is just awful!! O.O

I love your list! Although I think color-coding my books would drive me nuts (I'm a bit OCD in that way)! ;) And I just recently learned to not finish books as well. I still hate doing it, but there's only so much time! Great list, Katja!
ReplyDeleteI like your list and I agree with number 6 even though I love reading sad books I always find that when I now something sad is going to happen in a book soon I tend to avoid reading the book for awhile.
